Cockeysville Rec Council is now offering a summer field hockey camp. Sessions will aim to provide young athletes with the opportunity to develop their foundational field hockey skills and increase their knowledge on the strategies of the game. We invite players who have never played field hockey and those who have experience to both participate in this fun upcoming summer camp. We look forward to growing the game in the community.

Cockeysville Recreation Council offers FIELD HOCKEY for athletes from Kindergarten through 8th Grade. We invite players who have never played field hockey and those who have experience to both participate this upcoming season. We will teach the fundamentals of field hockey and play games against other rec councils. Even if you currently participate in another fall sport and want to learn and play field hockey, we welcome your participation.

K - 2nd Grade: $150.00

We organize our program and teams by grade level: 

• Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
• 3rd and 4th Grade
• 5th and 6th Grade
• 7th and 8th Grade

Cockeysville Rec Council also sponsors an after-school field hockey program for Cockeysville Middle School students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th.

Clinic players (K-2) will practice once a week.



They will have “play days” with other leagues on Saturdays or Sundays. Play days consist of several short scrimmages with the coaches on the field. There is a large focus on the rules and strategy, all in a positive learning environment. This is a great age to start a new sport!

Our practices will begin mid August.

Teams typically practice twice a week and practices are on average 90 minute - dependent on age group. 

The two practice days are usually scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays.

Teams will practice at County Home Park, Padonia International Elementary School and/or Dulaney High School.

Players will need:

• Field hockey stick
• Shin guards
• Mouth guard (not clear)
• Water bottle
• Field hockey goggles - OPTIONAL
• Field hockey corner masks - OPTIONAL

Games usually start the 2nd Sunday in September and the season concludes by the first weekend in November.

Games will be played on Sundays.

Home games will be held at County Home Park, Padonia International Elementary School, Dulaney High School, or Meadowood Regional Park.

Away games are played in Baltimore County and other surrounding counties. Some games are played on turf and others on grass.

Specific games schedules are provided by coaches once they are available - usually the first week of September.



Cockeysville Rec Field Hockey is part of the Maryland Youth Field Hockey League.

The MYFHL was founded in 1999 to provide opportunities to learn to play field hockey in Central Maryland, MYFHL serves GIRLS AND BOYS in grades Kindergarten through ninth grade in Baltimore City, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard and Frederick counties.

Parents/Guardians must purchase uniforms through our Team Store. 

Players are required to have a razorback reversible jersey AND a skirt.

The cost for the uniform is $55 - you do not have to purchase a new uniform each season! They should last multiple field hockey seasons.

If the player outgrows or misplaces their uniform, another one must be purchased to participate in the program. 

Uniforms need to be worn on game days.

We are always in need of adults who are willing to give their time to help coach or assist in coaching a team.

Adults do not have to have field hockey experience! Volunteers make the season possible and successful. We will be teaching our coaches as well as our players.

Cockeysville Rec Council will be sponsoring an after-school field hockey program for Cockeysville Middle School students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th.

We encourage athletes that have played field hockey and those that do not have playing experience to join! We will be teaching the rules, skills, and strategies of the game. Depending on registration numbers, try-outs may be necessary. 

Registration will open in April.

Practices: Practices will be held 2 days a week after school. Practices will be held at County Home Park – Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3 PM - 4:30 PM. 

Games: The team will have games against local public and private schools. A game schedule will be provided to the parents/guardians and players once it is created. Players can expect to have 1-2 games a week. Parents/guardians are expected to provide transportation to away games. 

Uniforms: Players will receive a shirt and kilt to wear for games - these will be returned at the end of the season.
